11/14/2026 End Date for “Haunt Cast & Load Out” Contract


Pay:
  • $630/wk. Plus additional 20% compensation for Haunt opening week
  • Free Provided Housing
  • Travel Assistance Reimbursement at beginning and end of contract
  • Paid Sick Time(Contracted for 10 weeks or more)
The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County is seeking a SPOT OPERATOR / ELECTRICIAN to operate a spot for its remaining Summer 2026 Shows and then stay on for HAUNT LOAD IN and potentially HAUNT RUN/LOAD OUT. The Gateway is a professional non-profit theater located roughly 55 miles east of New York City on Long Island in Bellport, NY. A typical Gateway work week is 5 days. Haunt opening week is 6 days, with additional compensation. Salary is negotiable, and on-site housing is provided. Gateway will also assist with transportation to and from its location in New York.

Spot Operator/Haunt Technician Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Being a Spot Operator for remaining performances of Come From Away and R&H Cinderella YE
  • Cable management, cable management, cable management
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, secure, clean and organized -office, shop, work, and storage spaces
  • Loading in and changing over lighting and electrical elements for each production
  • Constructing Haunt lighting/automation effects on an as needed basis.
  • Loading and unloading of Haunt storage trailers.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient with spotlight operation and cable management
  • Ability to read plots and paperwork
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Capacity to solve problems
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work quickly and accurately with attention to detail
  • Ability to safely lift 60+ pounds
All Electricians will occasionally help in other areas of production on an a limited/as needed basis. Staff positions in all departments will be expected to promote a healthy and safe working environment.
